How Azimuth handles information across the local desktop app, accounts, Horizon, Connect services, billing, support, and provider-backed features.
We use account, license, billing, and device data to operate purchases and entitlements.
Sync, Pulse, Scribe, and Cortex use only the data needed to provide the feature you request.
You can request access, correction, deletion, or support for privacy questions.
Who we are and what this covers
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, "Azimuth," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the business operating the Azimuth website, desktop software, account services, downloads, licenses, and optional connected features.
This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use Azimuth. It applies to the website, account and billing flows, download delivery, support interactions, telemetry, and optional services such as Horizon and Azimuth Connect.
Local-first desktop model
Azimuth is built around a local-first desktop workflow. Notes, files, plans, and project materials that remain only on your device are not intended to be received or stored by Azimuth.
Some features require communication with Azimuth systems or third-party providers. This includes accounts, license activation, device management, payments, cloud sync, AI routing, transcription, web search, email delivery, support, and security checks.
Information we collect
We aim to collect only the information reasonably needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the services you choose to use.
The exact information depends on whether you only use the local desktop app or also use an account, Horizon, billing, downloads, support, or connected services.
- Account information such as name, email address, authentication details, preferences, and session state.
- License and device information used to issue, validate, activate, deactivate, and support Horizon entitlements.
- Billing metadata such as purchases, invoices, subscription status, refund status, and limited payment processor references.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser or device details, download requests, API requests, logs, diagnostics, and security events.
- Support and feedback information you send to us, including emails, bug reports, attachments, survey responses, and related account context.
How we use information
We use personal information to provide the website and services, create and secure accounts, process purchases, issue licenses, deliver downloads, operate connected services, respond to support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, improve reliability, and meet legal obligations.
We may also use aggregated or de-identified operational information to understand product health, service usage, costs, and reliability. We do not use your private project content to train AI models.
Azimuth Connect services
Azimuth Connect services are optional. When you use them, we process the data needed to perform the feature you requested and to maintain reliability, billing, quotas, security, and support.
Connected services may rely on third-party providers for infrastructure, AI, transcription, search, email, storage, authentication, analytics, or payments. Those providers may process data needed to deliver the requested feature under their own terms and policies.
- Sync may process synced records, device state, manifests, transfer metadata, and storage references needed to keep devices current.
- Pulse may process project-aware search context, web-search results, email content, scheduled delivery settings, and outbound email metadata.
- Scribe may process uploaded audio, transcription jobs, transcript text, summaries, model/provider metadata, duration, usage, and job status.
- Cortex may process prompts, responses, routing metadata, provider and model choices, usage, cost telemetry, latency, and safety or abuse signals.
Payments and billing providers
Payments are handled by payment processors such as Stripe. Azimuth does not store full card numbers. We may store billing status, customer identifiers, invoice details, subscription state, order history, refund records, and limited payment metadata needed to manage access and support.
Billing and subscription information may be used to activate Horizon, manage Connect services, prevent fraud, reconcile payments, respond to disputes, and comply with financial and legal recordkeeping obligations.
Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the service, account relationship, billing records, license validation, security, fraud prevention, support, dispute resolution, legal compliance, and similar legitimate business needs.
Some connected-service data may be deleted, expired, rotated, or retained according to service needs and operational safeguards. We may retain limited records after account closure where needed for legal, security, billing, or abuse-prevention reasons.
Security
Azimuth uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These may include access controls, encrypted transmission, credential protections, logging, rate limits, monitoring, and vendor agreements that require appropriate handling of personal information.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or data has been compromised, contact us promptly.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information Azimuth holds about you and may ask that we correct, delete, export, or restrict certain information. Some requests may be limited where information is needed for security, billing, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or service operation.
You may choose not to use optional connected services. You may also cancel paid services, manage account settings where available, control browser cookies, and contact us for privacy-related requests.
Children's privacy
Azimuth is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Azimuth, contact us so we can review and respond appropriately.
Updates and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, service, business, or legal changes. Continued use of Azimuth after updated terms become effective means the updated policy applies going forward.
